"Direct my footsteps according to your word, let no sin rule over me" (Psalm 119:133).

There is simply no way a person can commend himself to God. It is not possible for a human to prepare themselves for an encounter with the Almighty in the sense of making themselves 'presentable.' The one manner of supplication that makes any sense in prayer, is that which bespeaks need. We are not God equal. Our thoughts, motives and actions are awry. We are not pure; sin already has a toehold in our lives, and has the potential to master us. We need direction and deliverance from evil.
