Highness is a well-attested category in human life. Royal highness, high school, high-society, are some examples. It is taken for granted that some people occupy a more exalted plane than others. There is widespread agreement that such persons are deserving of greater recognition, more honour and more money than others. Witness the fascination with celebrity. People are famous for being famous. 'Highness' is greatly prized our time. Apparently God has a different view. An opposite view, in fact. He prefers the society of those who dwell in the lowlands. The reason is clear: It is pride which explains our love of renown, which prevents us from knowing and appreciating God.
