"How you have helped the powerless! How you have saved the arm that is feeble!" (Job 26:2)
A man, wearied with suffering and the ignorant advice of his friends, addresses them in tones of bitter irony. Everything they have said to him has been hurtful; none of their wisdom has had a healing effect. Notably their approach takes no inspiration at all from God's character. He helps the helpless; he is not a critic of the enfeebled; he is on the side of the weak.
