"Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people

What God in his sovereign kindness gives, he can take away. God does not bestow his benefits without purpose. He intends for the recipients of his kindness to glorify him by becoming examples and illustrations in the world, of his loving character. When individuals and/or theistic communities refuse to emulate their benefactor, they fall out of God's purposes, and he chooses others to do what they did not.
