Love is universally acknowledged as being very desirable in human life, but no idea of love comes close to this definition of it. Most of the world subscribes to a model of love which is focused on self-satisfaction rather than serving the interests of another person. In Jesus, we see a species of love which calls us away from ourselves to invest in the lives of others. Such love is divine, and that is why we ought to emulate it. Ultimately, the world will not be satisfied with less.
