"The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him" (Lamentations 3:26).

Is this true? Could it be true? We might be tempted to doubt it if it was spoken by someone covered in privilege and wallowing in good fortune. But it wasn't. It was spoken by a man wounded by many hurts and steeped in sorrow. Furthermore, he is not the only example of this kind. Indeed! The secret belongs to those who 'know' God; those who have entered into the beauty and depth of his fellowship. For them, the hard knocks of life pale, and they can endure in hope and joy.
