There is much sorrow, pain and unfairness in the world because those who are most able to care for their fellow man choose rather to hoard their advantages for themselves. God elects individuals and groups; he teaches them about himself so that they will join him in his campaign to endow the whole human race. When his chosen ones fail to emulate their Benefactor they squander their privilege and subvert God's saving intentions. To be called into service by God is a magnificent--and solemn blessing.
