We suppose that it is within the scope of our ability to find out truth, and having discovered it, realize freedom by our own wits. Jesus' perspective is the opposite. He alerts us to the fact that truth is personal, and just as we can never know a fellow human being without a measure of trust and commitment, so we can never know the TRUTH unless we commit to the One who is TRUTH.
