It is human look fondly upon what used to be. As one grows older, the past begins to look like a golden age, and it is not as easy to embrace change. Ideas that did good service in earlier years are comfortable because they are familiar. But God is not locked in to our trusted ways and means. He is always out in front of us calling us into new perspectives and new duties. Our verse encourages us to watch out for God's surprises. Faith is never boring.
