"But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first" (Matthew 19:30)

Jesus said this to the disciples after he had said 'it is hard for the rich to enter the kingdom of heaven.' They were shocked to hear that, and wondered if anyone at all might be saved. We admire people whom God does not admire. We think little of people whom God does not despise. God's values are not identical to our own. As disciples of Jesus we should be prepared to be often startled.
