Jonah's dogged flight from the will of God reaches a devastating climax as he is pitched into the sea from the deck of his foundering vessel. But this is not the end for Jonah. The God whom Jonah defied does not abandon him. Rather, he makes provision for him. A great fish becomes an 'ark' to carry Jonah through ocean depths to safety. No one can get away from God's merciful intent. He makes the whole creation an instrument of the gospel.
