Someone had asked Jesus: 'are only a few people going to be saved?'(v.23). Such curiosity is hazardous because it is symptomatic of mistaken ideas about people and about God. There are a lot of people we wouldn't let into heaven. That's because we are such good people, we would let heaven be ruined by their like. Jesus assures us that his kingdom will be full of folks who we would have left out; while many will be excluded whom we assumed were a shoe-in.
