The 'word of the Lord is very persistent. Jonah's attempt to get away from it was notoriously unsuccessful. God takes hold of human lives and envelops them in his grace. Then he engages them as his agents in the same kindly mission toward other people. Though they often try to avoid their new role, God does not give up on them. There is always a 'second time'; another opportunity to share in God's merciful campaign.
