It's disappointing, to say the least. People did Jesus the honor of believing in him , but he did not return the favor. No indeed! Had he done so he would have concurred with their ill-conceived notions of his Messianic work. At the time, Jesus alone understood the nature of his task. The 'believers' here mentioned, later proved they could not stomach the idea of a crucified Messiah. God knows us better than we know ourselves. Even so, he cares and suffers for us.
