"'The fathers eat sour grapes and the children's teeth are set on edge.' As surely
Proverbs are useful things because they succinctly express an important truth about the human condition. But they never tell the whole truth. It may be true that what the forefather's did--their pattern of living and the choices they made--impacts on subsequent generations, it is not true, however, that the forefather's actions have robbed their descendents of the power to choose their own destiny. Redemption is open to each successive generation, no matter what its progenitors did, or what they were like. Over against the laws of heredity, is grace!
